🎬 Cheers, Beautiful People!
OK so I have some BIG news and I am seriously buzzing with excitement about it…I was featured as an expert in a brand new documentary called More Than Monogamy — and wow wow WOW. This film is something special.
The filmmaker, Dillon Birdsall (award-winning documentary filmmaker and all-around fantastic human), set out to create something both educational AND entertaining about “The Lifestyle” — meaning open relationships, polyamory, swinging, kink, and ethical non-monogamy in all its beautiful, complex, glorious forms.
And I got to be part of it alongside some people I genuinely admire and love — including Dr. Liz Powell, Kevin A. Patterson, Dirty Lola (all of whom have been on my Loving Without Boundaries podcast), Dr. Justin Lehmiller, and Kenneth Play and others I’ve had the honor of connecting with over the years. Getting to be in the same documentary as these brilliant humans? I mean… pinch me.
But first — let me tell you how this almost didn’t happen.
The night before Dillon came to interview me, I was staying in a NYC hotel. And if you remember that weekend… NYC got absolutely SLAMMED with flooding. Like, the-subways-are-underwater kind of flooding. Dillon had lugged ALL of his equipment all the way from Colorado, and suddenly he had no idea how to get to me through the chaos.
We were NOT about to let a flooded city stop us. I offered to help him get an Uber to bring him and all his gear to my hotel — and another Uber back — and somehow, through a little bit of determination and a whole lot of New York hustle, we made it happen. It felt like a small miracle. Or maybe just magic.

I honor Dillon’s commitment to this film so deeply. He traveled across the country with a mountain of equipment through an actual flood to make sure this story got told. THAT is dedication, beautiful people. And I wasn’t about to miss being part of something this important.
So what IS this documentary, and why does it matter so much to me?So many people are quietly struggling inside relationships that don’t fully fit who they are. They’re carrying shame. They’re Googling things at midnight they’d never say out loud. They’re wondering: Is something wrong with me? Why can’t I just be “normal”?And what this documentary does — beautifully, and without judgment — is say: You are not broken. You are not alone. And there is more than one way to love.
Here’s a stat that stops people in their tracks every time I share it: 1 in 5 Americans has engaged in some form of consensual non-monogamy in their lifetime. That’s as common as how many people own a cat in this country.
Yet somehow, we’ve never been taught how to do this in a healthy, thriving way. Not by our parents. Not in school. Not in therapy (and if a therapist has ever made you feel like your desire for non-monogamy IS the problem — I am SO sorry, and also: not true).
This documentary is part of changing that conversation. And I am HONORED to be part of it.
Here’s the big idea that lights me up:Many of our relationship struggles aren’t failures of love.
They’re failures of permission.
Permission to question the relationship model we inherited. Permission to want something different. Permission to have an honest conversation about what we actually need — without shame, without apology, without shrinking ourselves to fit a box that was never built for us.
That’s what More Than Monogamy invites. Not prescribing one “right” way to love — but expanding empathy, busting myths, and cracking open a door for the people who’ve been quietly wondering: could there be another way for me?
Whether you’re already living a non-monogamous life, curiously dipping your toes in, or simply want to understand why so many people are consciously choosing something beyond the relationship default — this film is for you.
Go watch it!More Than Monogamy is available now and modestly priced — because Dillon and his team made this to be accessible. This is the kind of film you watch with your partner(s), with a friend who’s been asking questions, or honestly just by yourself with a glass of wine and an open heart. (No judgment on the wine. Highly recommend actually.

And stay tuned — Dillon and members of his team will be coming on the Loving Without Boundaries podcast very soon for what I know is going to be a fantastic conversation. You will NOT want to miss that one.
Much love, beautiful humans. Go watch the film. Then come back and tell me what shifted for you.
