I am delighted to share my latest podcast interview with Steph Zapata, who is a NuyoRican (which refers to a Puerto Rican individual living in the U.S., especially in New York City) sexuality educator. The suggestion to reach out to Steph so that I can share their important work on our podcast came to me via Yael Rosenstock Gonzalez, whom I had the honor of meeting at last year’s Southwest Love Fest annual conference. I am making a very conscious effort to have our guests be as highly diverse as possible, and I very much appreciate the introductions to a rainbow of amazing, highly intelligent, and forward-thinking individuals, such as Steph. We had a truly engaging conversation that I am honored to be able to share with you via our award-winning Loving Without Boundaries podcast. They have become a long-term catalyst for change within sexuality education through their radically intentional approaches that call out systems of oppression, and calls-in individuals and community to disrupt and re-imagine what can be.
Their work focuses on collective liberation tactics through innovative and honest sex ed that creates space for the whole self, and the whole truth.
Steph is a self-titled “Unprofessional Professional” who offers no apology for the disruption of white supremacy through the joy of de-colonial sexuality education.
