Cheers Sexy People!
Squeeeeeeeeee!!!!!! I am just TICKLED PINK to share with you our latest podcast interview – Part One and Part Two – with the incredibly talented and awesome, Tikva Wolf, creator of the now famous in the poly community KimchiCuddles comic. I have been unwittingly following Tikva’s work for YEARS before I even realized who the creator was or where these magical bits of wisdom and hilarity were coming from. I’ve linked to these fun works of art in blog posts at this website as early as 2013 (wow, time flies!) to help illustrate concepts and shed some comical light on difficult polyamorous situations that come up in our day to day lives – and then inevitably in Loving Without Boundaries blog posts. Eventually we became Facebook friends as I internet “stalked” her and got to know her jovial personality online. Then after I was honored to be a presenter at this past year’s Beyond The Love (BTL) conference, I was elated to see that Tikva would be presenting several workshops there herself! Holy Hanna! I was going to have the opportunity to meet her in person at the conference. Yippee!!!!
After my two workshops at BTL were completed, I decided to indulge myself and take one of Tikva’s workshops. Wow, it was so cool to get a behind-the-scenes look at how she conceptualizes her cartoons, taking challenging situations, accessing her “higher self” to help solve the problem, and condensing all of this insight and wisdom into just several frames of a comic strip. So flipping unbelievably awesome! I managed to work through my own sticky poly situation I was experiencing via creating my own rudimentary comic strip for the very first time. It was highly valuable to realize that just having some fun thinking through a problem in a creative way – while not even talking to the person the situation is about – can help one heal their own wounds and conundrums. I describe more of the experience here under the workshop section. What an absolutely enlightening experience! After the workshop, I introduced myself to Tikva, “fan-girled” her and told her how much I admired her work, and invited her to be on the podcast. No need for a spoiler alert as you see how that turned out. Yay! It turns out that Tikva and I have quite alot in common on various fronts. Listen to the episodes to hear more about Tikva, her background, the passion behind why she does what she does, and so much more!
Here is Tikva’s bio:
Kimchi Cuddles is a webcomic spreading awareness about poly, queer, and genderqueer issues in the most hilarious way possible, drawing from real life stories and experiences. Tikva Wolf has been drawing ever since she could hold a crayon, and comes from a long line of love-activists. What she primarily cares about in art (and life) is connecting to people, creating dialogue, and spreading awareness. She’s always taken delight in making people laugh, and in doing so also unveiling hidden perspectives. She uses humor as a way of encouraging others to deeply see themselves and each other.
Thank you Tikva, for being so awesomely generous with your time, for your extremely talented work in sharing KimchiCuddles Comic with all of your raving fans (like this Kitty!), and for sharing your thoughts, wisdom and insights with us via the podcast interviews Part One and Part Two!
