Cheers Sexy People!
I am really excited to share my latest podcast interview with the amazing Sarah Sloane whom I met at the 2017 Beyond The Love conference when I attended one of her classes, and then again at 2018 Beyond The Love conference when Sarah was manning a bookstore table next to mine! How fun! I have been very impressed with Sarah’s sheer enthusiasm for what she does, diving in feet first to help other folks on their respective journeys. What passion Sarah has for her work! It comes through in her workshops, it comes through in her energy when you are in her presence, and it comes through in this great conversation with this podcast interview. With people like Sarah Sloane advocating for alternative relationship structures and healthy dating and relating, I believe the world is a better place. Sarah, I am so incredibly grateful for your tireless work for the consensually non-monogamous community, teaching the next generation, and expanding that out even further! You totally rock! See you next year, I hope at another Beyond The Love.
Here is Sarah’s bio:
Sarah is a sexuality and relationships educator, writer, and coach focusing on creating “light bulb moments” for her readers, clients and students. With over 20 years experience in kink and ethical non-monogamy, and 18 years of teaching all over the U.S., her work helps other people find their authentic bliss.
Some topics we discuss in this fun, informative, and educational interview:
— What she loves about being a sexuality educator and coach, and how that came to be.
— Sarah shares with us her upbringing in a conservative home as more of a “tomboy”, and how she knew she wasn’t “straight” as early as high school after reading a copy of “Our Bodies, Ourselves”.
— How in her 20s, she rubber-banded back to a traditional type of life, getting monogamously married to her future ex-husband.
— We found out that we both lived in the Alexandria, Virginia for over a decade – yet we didn’t know each other at that time. She was also born not far from me in Richmond, Virginia yet now lives in the Chicago area.
— When Sarah found herself having lots of questions around a particular topic, she would dive in and learn how to teach the subject. That’s why she has so many awesome workshops!
— She discusses how she learned how to own her rights, empowerment, and space as a non-primary partner in a polyamorous relationship structure.
— When Sarah first met Tristan Taormino as she was teaching a class in Washington, DC.
— How asking for what she needs with partners coming from a place of pro-empowerment is how she learned to deal with feelings of jealousy, fear, and insecurity when it crops up.
— How advocating for our needs directly versus passively aggressively is so much better, and garners better results too! Our needs are valuable, of course — even for us women folk.
— How she waves her hands around when she gets really excited about a topic, when things just “click” – especially when talking about empowerment!
Thank you Sarah, for being so awesomely generous with your time; for your fun sexuality education and coaching work you do for the polyamorous community; and for sharing your wisdom and insights with us via the podcast interview!
