Cheers Sexy People!
Happy Friday, Loving Without Boundaries community! I am thrilled to share my latest podcast interview with a recent guest of mine, Andre Shakti. I had the pleasure of taking one of Andre’s classes at the Southwest Love Fest (SWLF) conference earlier this year, “Non-Monogamy and Socio-Economic Class” and loved it – I learned so much. In terms of her background, Andre has been a sex worker for twelve years who re-located back to the east coast from California. She is also a sex educator who speaks around the nation on various topics, such as group sex classes and fisting (a class I sadly missed at SWLF as it was the same time as my class). Andre also runs three sex columns and works as a journalist as well. Those columns are: 1) LGBTQ and relationship-focused column called called “In & Out” in the publication Baltimore OUTloud; 2) Non-monogamy/alternative relationship column on her website called “I Am Polyamorous and So Can You”; and 3) Resident sex-pert position at Slixa.com called “Ask Andre”. Wow is she a busy woman! One thing I can say about Andre: What a classy, trend-setting lady! I love Andre’s fashion sense and the way she carries herself when she walks into a room — confident, bold, shameless, and inspiring! Andre, you so rock! What an enlightening, fun, and awesome interview this is! I am filled with gratitude that you created such an epic show with me. Yay!
Andre Shakti is a journalist, educator, consultant, activist and professional slut living in Baltimore, MD. She is devoted to normalizing alternative desires, de-stigmatizing sex workers and their clients, and not taking herself too seriously. Advice columns: “I Am Poly(amorous) & So Can You” at IAmPoly.net, #AskAndre at Slixa.com/blog/askandre, and Baltimore OUTloud’s “The In & Out”.
Some topics we discuss in this educational, touching, and fascinating interview:
— It turns out Andre and I have some things in common such as being from the Philadelphia area suburbs, with an Italian heritage background.
— Andre shares that she has two looks: 1) stripper; and 2) athletic gear. She shares that she has no shame today about showing off her body at the age of 30 years old.
— Andre started her career in porn at around age 23–24, which as she shares is older than normal.
— Non-monogamy was trait that Andre knew was a part of who she was at an early age. Realizing that she was queer took more time.
— Like me, Andre ended up cheating on her boyfriends (successfully hiding it) through much of high school, and thus realized that monogamy was just not how she operated at her best. This is yet another way that we share similarities in our backgrounds.
— Andre minored in LGBT studies and sexual minorities – including non-monogamy – in college and it helped shape the trajectory of her life. Nice! This is the time period when Andre realized she was not broken as she started to find her tribe.
— Tune in to listen to this amazing podcast episode!

UPCOMING POLYAMOROUS-FRIENDLY EVENTS
1) Free LWB Facebook Group for Healthy, Sex Positive, Open Relationships — Ready to explore healthy, deeply connected (and virtually jealousy-free) open relationships? It’s all possible – especially when surrounded by a community of people already doing it. Many in newly open relationships experience roller coaster emotions of jealousy, insecurity, and feel alone on their journey. That’s why I created this free Facebook group where people are coming together to share actionable tips for succeeding in multiple loving relationships, explore deeper love, and find mutual understanding and support. There’s an abundance of rock star information posted in the group daily by our amazing members. We create a safe place to engage that’s fun and thrilling! Click here and request to join our free group!
2) World Domination Summit (WDS) Meetup; Portland, Oregon; Sunday, June 30, 2019, 1:30pm–3pm — Workshop: Jealousy Survival Guide. Jealousy can have an enormous impact on some people, so it is no surprise that people (especially those who practice consensual non-monogamy) think, talk, and write about it quite a bit. Using techniques from her book, “Jealousy Survival Guide”, Kitty Chambliss gives you inspiration and provides tools to gain and practice new skills. This is a comprehensive workshop and step-by-step template for recognizing feelings of jealousy and insecurity as they come up using effective tools for sorting through those emotions, and when, if, and how to bring up challenging or potentially emotionally charged conversations with loved ones. NOTE: You do NOT need to be a WDS attendee to come to this meetup that is being held at the locally famous McMenamins Ringlers Pub. Come join the fun, the adventure, and the celebration of community!
3) Woodhull Sexual Freedom Summit (SFS), Alexandria, Virginia, August 15–18, 2019 — The Sexual Freedom Summit features human rights activists, sexuality educators and researchers, professionals from the legal and medical fields, authors, sexual freedom movement leaders and organizational partners all working toward the time when sexual freedom is fully recognized as a fundamental human right. This Summit is for EVERYONE interested in learning about the issues in the realm of sexual freedom, advancing their current knowledge and in gaining the tools to actually create the change we need to accomplish. I hope to see you there!

See you on the flip side, lovely community! Keep being brave, compassionately vulnerable, and uniquely and authentically you!
Wishing you peace, love and happiness
(and thrilling, fun sex too!)
