Cheers Sexy People!
I’m thrilled to share with you our latest podcast episode here at Loving Without Boundaries! This interview is with Kathy Slaughter who was one of the presenters at the Beyond The Love 2015 conference in Columbus, Ohio that I attended in mid-November. I participated in her Saturday workshop “Building Relationships That Last” based on John and Julie Gottman’s work. I LOVED this workshop including the last portion where Kathy encouraged us to work directly with the person next to us (thanks, C.Z.!) practicing active and non-judgmental listening techniques. I will be summarizing what I learned in this workshop in an upcoming blog post here at LWB, so stay tuned! I approached Kathy after the workshop to tell her how much I enjoyed it and asked if she’d be willing to be interviewed on my podcast, and the rest is now history. Whoot! Kathy also presented a workshop called “Non-Binary Love” at the conference as well. You go, girl!
As stated on her website, Kathy Slaughter loves being a resource for people seeking to get more out of life, more out of sex, and more out of their relationships. She’s an individual and relationship therapist in Indianapolis, Indiana. She works at assisting her patients in “identifying the ways your life and your relationships aren’t working for you, as well as find new ways to think, feel and act that are in alignment with the core of who you want to be.” Her professional expertise includes human sexuality, gender identity transistions, committed relationships, marriage counseling, EMDR, and trauma. Kathy is a life-long student and troublemaker, and currently pursues the craft of mental health therapy as her full-time gig. Her passion for personal growth and self-development is matched only by her interest in teaching others, through one to one interactions and the classroom. She thrives off of intimate conversations that lead others to new realizations about their own lives. I found our interview together to be eye-opening and educational, as well as highly informative, and a great “peek behind the curtain” of being a poly-friendly relationship therapist. Awesome!
Thank you Kathy, for being so generous with your time within your busy schedule, and for sharing your thoughts and insights with us via the podcast interview! It was highly informative, educational and inspirational! I’d welcome having you back on the show anytime. Follow Kathy’s adventures at www.soaringheartcounseling.com or on Twitter @SoaringIndy
