Cheers Sexy People!
What if you believed that anything you set your mind to, you could achieve it? What if in your heart and mind, you knew that you already possessed everything that you needed to make your goals realized? The power of your own belief in yourself, and realizing your own unlimited potential is ASTOUNDING! Just under two years ago, I told some entrepreneurial friends in a mastermind group that I was in that I wanted to write a book. Then I went to my first polyamory conference ever in my whole life (Beyond The Love). With the very first session, my mind was blown by the concepts and strategies shared. Wow! The energy of massive learning and mindshifts was contagious! I wanted to create that kind of massive impact for other people on a more global scale, and not limit it to the 250 awesome, brave, and let’s face it – relatively local souls who were fortunate enough to attend that conference. And then I got my book idea.
Since that time, it has been a whirlwind of an adventure of massive learning going to conferences all over the world, stretching to achieve big goals such as becoming a certified coach, and somehow working in the “creative thrash” of writing a book. I had no idea what I was in for in setting the goal to write what I hope (heck, I know!) is my first book. I had to battle so many gremlins down to the ground, sometimes daily. The gremlins of:
“Who am I to think I should write a book?”
“Why would anyone want to read what I have to say?”
“ How am I even qualified to do this?”
“Do I have what it takes to achieve this massive feat?”
“This is too hard. I think I’ll go just take a nap.”
… And on an on it goes. Each day, I struggled. Each day, I took action anyway. Each day, I told myself better stories. Better stories such as:
“I already possess everything I need to succeed.”
“I CAN and WILL write a book.”
“My community needs and wants this information that I’d like to share, and they are ready for it.”
I slowly but surely turned my thoughts around from HOW to I WILL and I AM! It was powerful and life-changing. And that was only the beginning. I also had to figure out all of the technical aspects of self-publishing, and the art of book launching. Once again, I had to battle more gremlins, more self-doubt, more “who am I to think I can do this?” To keep going here, I turned to friends, colleagues, and professionals that I knew had already written and succeeded at self-publishing and book promotion. I got on the phone with them, and asked “How did you do it? How did it feel when you achieved it? Was it easy? Was it hard? Can I call you if I have any questions?” And each person I spoke to cheered me on. Each person said “I did it and you can do it too.” And slowly but surely, I believed.
Most importantly, I learned to believe in myself.
Then the momentum started. As I put stakes in the ground, and started saying not only to myself but to others, “Hey! I’m writing a book! I’m going to launch it by X!” Well holy shit! Then I had to run to make it happen! It’s like throwing a football out into the field and you are the catcher! You have to go run to catch that ball – to complete the pass! (“First base: Bugs Bunny! Shortstop: Bugs Bunny! Pitcher: Bugs Bunny!) Little games like that I played with myself got me to cross the finish line. Other games I played were hitting the publish button on the book into Amazon when I knew there might be some typos in it. Taking that imperfect action. Because perfection is the enemy of the good. Then it became a race to find as many typos as I could to upload that new better file. And little by little, like creating a beautiful sculpture, my published work got better and better. Never perfect, because that is impossible. But damn close to pretty darn good.
And then the reviews started pouring in, a little trickle at first, and then a small but consistent tidal wave right around launch day. WOW! Another little miracle watching people rallying around my work, but more importantly seeing the impact my work was having! It was astounding, heart warming, and just plain awesome! On this, the eve of Thanksgiving, I am filled with so much gratitude! And I am humbled, elated, joyful, and dare I say, fucking STOKED to be here… with you… rocking this day… and rocking this community.
Thank you! Thank you for saying yes to being here, to being authentic and unique YOU, for checking out my book if you have so far. Let’s continue the adventure together!
I ask you: What could you achieve if YOU believed that you could do anything?
Happy Thanksgiving!
Wishing you peace, love, and happiness,
